Unwrit Ages

Terms of Use

Last updated 22 September 2026 · applies to Unwrit Ages 1.0.0 (com.unwritages.app)

These are the terms you accept by installing and playing Unwrit Ages. They are short because the game asks little of you: it has no account, collects nothing, and the only two things it can ever charge for are optional and are described in full below.

The licence to use the game

Unwrit Ages is a fork of Unciv and is distributed under the Mozilla Public License, version 2.0. That licence, not this page, governs your rights to copy, modify and redistribute the software, and it grants you more than a typical app's terms would. Where this page and MPL-2.0 disagree, MPL-2.0 wins. See Licence & copyright for the source offer and the third-party notices.

No warranty

The game is provided on an “as is” basis, without warranty of any kind, as section 6 of MPL-2.0 states. We do not promise that it is free of defects, that it will run on any particular device, or that your saved games will survive an operating system update, a device failure or an uninstall. Keep your own copies of anything you would mind losing.

Your saved games are yours

Saves live on your device. We operate no account system and no server that holds them. If you play multiplayer, the games are stored on whichever multiplayer server you have configured in Options, which may be a server we do not run; treat anything you send to it, including chat messages, as visible to the people you are playing with and to whoever operates that server.

The optional wallet features

Unwrit Ages can connect to a Solana wallet app you have installed separately — Phantom, Solflare, or any other app implementing the Mobile Wallet Adapter. This is optional. The entire game is playable from start to finish without ever opening the Wallet screen, and nothing in this section applies to you unless you choose to use it.

We never hold your keys. Your seed phrase and private keys stay inside your own wallet app, and every transaction is presented to you there for approval before anything happens. If you decline, nothing is sent and nothing is charged.

The two fees, stated in full

There are exactly two, both optional, both triggered only by you:

Recording a save on-chain — 1 SKR

Writes the save's name and a SHA-256 hash of the file to Solana as a memo transaction. The save file itself never leaves your device. Charged only for a save you named yourself; autosaves are never charged. You also pay the ordinary Solana network fee.

Minting a victory certificate — US$0.75

Mints an NFT recording how you won, into your own wallet. The fee is charged in SOL, converted at the live SOL/USD rate from an on-chain price feed and bounded so that a misbehaving feed can only ever charge you less than the nominal fee, never more. On top of it you pay the network's own cost — roughly US$0.17 of account rent, plus the transaction fee — which goes to the Solana network and not to us.

Those are the only charges Unwrit Ages will ever ask you for. There is no subscription, no advertising, and nothing to buy inside the game.

Blockchain transactions cannot be undone

This is the most important thing on this page. A transaction you approve is settled by the Solana network, not by us, and once it is confirmed:

Fees paid are therefore non-refundable. Approve a transaction only when you have read what your wallet app is showing you and you are content for it to be permanent.

A certificate is a keepsake, not an investment

A victory certificate records that you won a game of Unwrit Ages. It is not a security, a currency, or a claim on anything. We make no representation that it has, will have, or will retain any monetary value, we do not operate or endorse any market for it, and we are not involved in any resale. Whether you may lawfully acquire or hold digital assets where you live is your responsibility, not ours.

Things we do not control

The wallet app you install, the Solana network and its fees, the Pyth price feed the certificate fee is converted with, the Arweave storage that holds the certificate's illustration, and any multiplayer server you configure are all operated by third parties. If one of them is unavailable, slow, or behaves unexpectedly, the corresponding feature will not work, and we cannot fix it for you. The game itself keeps working without any of them.

What we ask of you

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law where you live allows it, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game — including lost saves, lost time, or losses from transactions you approved or from a third-party service failing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything on this page.

Changes to these terms

If a future version changes what the game does or what it can charge for, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is the date it last did. Continuing to use the game after a change means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, uninstall it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
